The Last Resort is now available

Terminal: JFK’s Terminal 1 was a bit of a madhouse. A ton of fancy retail shops like Coach and Bally stood mostly empty, while the few food stands and Hudson News were mobbed, and there was a line to get into the single sit-down restaurant, called The Local.

Check In: I checked in online and did not check any bags.

Boarding: Once boarding started, it proceeded swiftly.

Seats: The plane, an Airbus A330-300, seemed pretty new inside, including the seats. Seats had adjustable headrests. The legroom felt generous for Economy class. Each seat back had a cupholder that folded down so I didn’t have to have my tray down to rest a drink. On the downside, the storage pocket was extremely small, and there were no air vents overhead that passengers could control.

Entertainment: Each seat had an individual entertainment system. The movie selection was great–I watched A Bigger Splash.

Food and drink: I slept through straight from five minutes after takeoff util two hours prior to landing, so missed dinner entirely. Breakfast consisted of a small bowl of fruit, a blueberry muffin and a granola bar.

Staff: Everyone I came into contact with was friendly and efficient.

Misc: Pillows and blankets were provided for each passenger. The two rounds of hot towels, one early in the flight and one close to landing, we a nice touch.

Arrival: Arrival was on time. The flight time was 7 hours and 35 minutes.

This ticket was purchased on Expedia as part of a two-leg flight to Split, Croatia and a return trip from Dubrovnik via Brussels. The Economy-class ticket for both legs cost $1204, including all fees. The author does not have elite status on this airline.
